If you've got a really physically demanding job you may need the extra energy through the day, although in saying that I fast all day and go to the gym 3x a week on an empty stomach. I've never been a breakfast person and my current job is completely mental so I rarely get a chance for a lunch break, so it suits me. I'm positive there's a hell of a lot more scientific basis to intermittent fasting and someone can probably explain it much better, but what I described works for me. Sometimes on weekends I'll eat during the day and those days are really hard because I personally find it hard to stop once I've started (hence why I was almost 100kg at one point before starting keto). I fast for 22-23 hours (no breakfast or lunch) and only have a meal in the evening, or an "eating window" of 1-2 hours a day. My understanding is that you try to keep the same fasting schedule every day. It's the easiest way of eating I've ever found and honestly there's a million things you can cook.Įdit - I do intermittent fasting so I've never bothered with breakfast/lunch keto meals but have been known to demolish a wedge of brie for snack times My flaw at the start was to over think things. Shepherds/cottage pie - make the beef/lamb mince base and have crushed/mashed cauliflower on top instead (generous amount of mature cheddar too) I add Barenaked rice to this as well to bulk.īurgers - don't fixate on beef, I've made great turkey/chicken burgers and had them with salad. Soup - chicken stock, meat, beaten egg to thicken (like Chinese takeaway style). I add Barenaked rice or noodles (made from konjac root, I buy it in Sainsbury's) to bulk it out.Ĭover chicken/beef/pork in cheese and maybe some pesto and bake it. Omelettes - don't add milk, cook in butter, throw in meat and cheese and that's a dinner. Biggest mistake I made initially was to try to make complex stuff, or find weird and wonderful keto substitutions for potatoes/rice/pasta.
